What to Wear to a Music Festival

So it’s finally March (thank God). That means no more dreary weather, Spring Break is just around the corner, and the much missed sandals and shorts can finally be pulled back from out of our wardrobes.

But the start of March also entails one more small detail that’s much more exciting than being able to parade around in shorts and open toed shoes. It means that music festivals are now going to be popping up much more frequently now, rather it be next week’s SXSW, next month’s Coachella, or even June’s big and grandeur Glastonbury festival, and with all of these great festivals to choose from it’s almost just as important to know what to wear to these events as it is to know the lineup.

So with that being said, I’m going to list below some looks that I think will be perfect for a hot afternoon in sunny California’s Coachella or a  more  humid atmosphere like that of Glastonbury’s.

The Basics:

1. Some great shorts. Let’s face it, most music festivals are insanely crowded and take place when it’s ridiculously hot outside, so what better way to keep cool that in some nice denim shorts. You can always add your own twist to the trend by choosing a bold pattern or texture.

2. A comfortable, but cute top. All of these tops above are different in their own way, but what they all share in common is that they’ll make a great statement and will keep you comfortable from day until night.

3. A cardigan, jacket, or sweater. You never know if the weather is going to drop to the fifties or sixties at night time so it’s always a safe and smart bet to bring along a jacket, sweater, or cardigan to pull on once the sun sets.

4. Cool shoes. No matter what music festival you plan to go to, you’re going to be doing a lot of walking. So choosing to bring along comfortable shoes is probably one of the greatest decisions you can make when packing for a festival. But keep in mind that just because the shoes should be comfortable doesn’t mean they have to be dowdy. All of the shoes I listed above are styles of shoes that are usually more comfortable than others and they will keep you up with the current trends.

5. Accessories. Like shoes, accessories help tie your entire look together, so make sure you choose some that will really make you stand out from the rest. Sunglasses are always a staple for when going to a music festival, but it’s also always nice to throw on some cute jewelry to add personality to your look.
